Welsh/Irish rally June 1st/2nd 2019

The Irish/Welsh w/end of 2019 saw 23 people & 20 machines from Leinster classic club make the trip to Wales with most arriving at Pembroke dock a few at Fishguard & their chairman to Holyhead.
A few section members went to Pembroke dock to meet the majority of them, we then stopped for lunch at Efailwen before carrying on to Aberystwyth with a couple of minor breakdowns on route before arriving at hotel early evening.
Saturday night we all enjoyed the rally dinner a few words said & the rally salver was presented to Con Rogers Leinster classic club chairman by Val Newton.
Unfortunatley Howard from south wales section took ill & spent the night in hospital & wasn't able to take part on Sunday along with Rob Jones who went to the hospital with him & his wife.
Sunday main day 90 miles ahead it was raining & damp so we delayed  the start until 11.30 until it eased a bit some of the welsh members opted not to ride but the hardcore were off out through the lanes around Nantymoch dam to a well deserved tea/coffee stop at the Red kite cafe Ponterwyd.
It was the A44 for a few miles then down the lanes again before heading to St Harmon then onto lunch at Rhayader were everyone done their own thing for lunch.
The sun was now shining for the afternoon blast across the mountain road to Cwmystwyth then to Pont-rhyd-groes for tea/coffee stop which wasn't really supported but quite a few stopped to view the working water wheel attraction originaly used for driving stamps for pounding ore in the 1800's as was the rebuilt miners bridge across the gorge a short cut for the lead miners going to work.
From here along the wooded valley towards Llaniler then a steep climb which gave a great view of Aberystwyth from the top.
A few of us spent another enjoyable evening in the bar at the hotel with the Irish members, Monday morning was go home day again 3 ports destination for the Irish a few of us took the bulk of them close to Pembroke dock before saying goodbye.
